Most intense film dialogue. Recently I was contemplating the scariest lines in film ever. Then I expanded it (and narrowed) to horror films. The dialogue itself did not have to be frightening, but it had to be dramatic. I started with ones I remembered and then did some research. The first two are in order of my preference.

1) Here’s Johnny (Jack Nicholson–The Shining)

2) Your Mother sucks … in Hell (Linda Blair–The Exorcist)

3) A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti (Anthony Hopkins–Silence of the Lambs)

4) You’re terminated F…er (Linda Hamilton–The Terminator)

5) This… is God (Nightmare on Elm Street)

6) Get away from her, you bitch (Sigourney Weaver–Aliens)

7) Smile you son of a bitch! (Jaws)

I decided to leave off here not because I couldn’t think of any others, but because I kept thinking of scary movies in general and what defined them. Dracula, Frankenstein, King Kong, and others. Then I got to my own favorites: Vincent Price in The Amazing Doctor Phibes, Young Frankenstein (totally outside the box by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder), and The Fly (I prefer the old one but Jeff Goldblum is good too.)

I kept thinking of how very much I like horror and suspense films, and always have. I love the same sort of books and stories–think Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, and H P Lovecraft. All those authors are or were a tad different (hopefully Stephen King won’t be offended.) And changing the subject again into writing or authorship– I love writing stories that might be suited for film. I think visually and so when I write I’m seeing it in my mind. It is often good that people can’t see what I’m thinking. I am no King, Poe, or Lovecraft, but I am trying to get better.

May you find some fun in a film or written story today.
