The Autumnal Equinox is the first day of Autumn/Fall in the northern hemisphere, and is when the day and night are of equal duration. It falls on September 22 or 23.

Fall is the time of harvest, winds, and is the element water. Water is freshening, healing, and cleansing. Water quenches our thirst. Its cooling liquidity is soft and purifying. Water is love. Fall is the time when the winds blow gently through the tall golden grain waiting for the scythe. Autumn represents the reward for our labors. Fall is the golden years of our living and represents peace.

Let’s find some Fall/Autumn quotes.

“Saints and poets are hills touched with dawn while the valley is in darkness.”
~~Austin O’Malley

“You will find something more in woods than in books.
Trees and stones will teach you that which you can never learn from masters.”
~~Saint Bernard

“The supreme happiness of life is the conviction we are loved.”
~~Victor Hugo

“I love to wander through the woodlands hoary,
In the soft light of an Autumnal day,
When Summer gathers up her robes of glory,
And, like a dream of beauty, glides away.”
~~S. W. Whitman

Not too be too close minded about rote teaching, but as Benjamin Hoff says in THE TE OF PIGLET:
“Western philosophy has become the domain of pipe–smoking tweed suited college professors (who may profess it but not necessarily practice it) and hyper–cerebral students who, for all their intelligence, often seem to have a hard time washing their clothes or repairing the lawn mower.”

“An enlightened being is like a rock in a flowing river.
It stands solidly while turmoil passes harmlessly by.”
~~ME

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is rapture on the lonely shore,
There is a society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar;
I love not man the less, but nature more.”
~~Lord Byron
