Warriors, bravery, and change, and the one. I have been fortunate to know many warriors, have observed much bravery, and witnessed many positive changes. I have also met a very few of “the one”.

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

“No man ever steps in the same river twice,
for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”

“There is nothing permanent except change.”

Three quotes by Heraclitus. The first is the WARRIOR quote.
I argue that the second quote denotes bravery for me; the reason is that to seek change is brave. The second step in the river is an acknowledgement that not only do I accept change I welcome its inevitability.
The final quote emphasizes that change is the ONLY constant.

I frequently state that all I have is right now. Right in this moment I am more than OK I am full and I must cherish this instant for I will never have it again. Live this moment.

One definition of bravery is the quality or state of having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty. I have seen brave men and women in action, those few who take action and do not shrink from moral, emotional, and physical responsibilities. These are the few, the needed. I believe Heraclitus would place these brave souls in the category of the real fighters those without whom there would be no battle.

And ultimately I return to the one, the warrior who will bring the others back. I have seen and been honored to know that ONE, that one percent. We owe a great debt to that one in a hundred. God bless you.
