Rainier Independent Film Festival. I’m happy to announce that our short film LOVERS has been accepted into the 12th Annual Rainier Independent Film Festival in Ashford Washington May 18th through May 20th 2018. We are showing in the 11:00 AM block at the Cine Yurt at the Wellspring on Sunday May 20th.
This is going to be a cool and fun event right next to beautiful Mount Rainier. Check out their site at rainier.film for the entire schedule of films and events. The festival has great packages for people who want to be at all the films and events or go to just a few.
I’m really excited about the Rainier Independent Film Festival because some of my family and friends from the Great North West will be able to attend. I’m originally from Seattle and (when it’s not raining) Mount Rainier hovers like a mythic presence seemingly and almost impossibly over the horizon. To have our film being shown in the shadow of the mountain is quite an honor (though with the weather even the mountain might not cast a shadow). In May it could also be really nice with those blue skies that are a blue that doesn’t seem real. Yet, rain or shine I’m humbled that LOVERS was accepted by the festival.
For those who may keep up with my posts you know my mom passed away bit ago, though it seems like just yesterday at other moments. Mom was a lifelong resident of the North West until she finally moved to Las Vegas for the warmth of the sun in her 60’s. Her heart was always in Seattle though as are many of her friends and family. I’m not sure how the whole universe thing works, but I wouldn’t be surprised if mom is there in spirit as the film is shown. Heck, dad might come down to watch too. I’m pretty sure they’re both upstairs, or wherever good souls go.
Hope to see everyone there!
