The Las Cruces International Film Festival has honored our film LOVERS by accepting it into their festival. Our film is currently scheduled to be shown in Theater 3 at 11:40 AM on March 8, 2018. The festival runs from March 7th through March 11th. I am able to see on the festival website that each day is filled with all types of films in multiple genres and differing lengths. You can also see the films’ posters which have already perked my interest almost as much as the films’ summary synopsis. I am very excited to have our team’s film be part of this festival.

I’m also excited to listen to the festival’s special guests Cybill Shepherd (Outstanding Achievement Entertainer Award), Pam Grier (Opening Night Film Guest) and others. I am not usually a star struck sort of person but the folks at this festival are amazing. One guy I will try to sneak a pic with is Ralph Bakshi who is receiving an Outstanding Achievement in Animation Award. Bakshi was the force behind the X-rated cartoon film “Fritz the Cat” which was a boundary pusher. I was an even bigger fan of WIZARDS a quasi-science fiction/ fantasy post apocalyptic film about science and technology. I’m pretty sure the film came out when I was in high school. The film was strange and deep and it impressed my youngish mind with possibilities. I also remember that as I saw the film multiple times in different decades and it always had that certain “thing”, something different than other more traditional films. I’d like to think I have a bit of that edgy/ strange quality in the books and films that I am involved with.

I love many types of films and I love going to film festivals so I can see the cutting edge of where filmmakers are trying to go. We have an amazing team in LOVERS and it is cool to interact with filmmakers headed in their own creative directions. I’ll keep you updated when I get back.
