Insanity, madness, and danger. Generally, I try to post items to inspire. Today I’m going to step squarely back into the real world. Life is full of joy and peace, and unfortunately of pain and unrest. These I accept as par for a course that is the journey of life. I have experienced my share of everything in my own life. I’ve also seen the dark side and madness in my job as an FBI Agent. I take a moment to share one definition:

“Insanity …
Insanity, craziness, or madness is a spectrum of behaviors characterized by certain abnormal mental or behavioral patterns. Insanity may manifest as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to themselves or others, though not all such acts are considered insanity; likewise, not all acts showing indifference toward societal norms are acts of insanity. In modern usage, insanity is most commonly encountered as an informal unscientific term denoting mental instability, or in the narrow legal context of the insanity defense. In the medical profession the term is now avoided in favor of diagnoses of specific psychiatric diseases; the presence of delusions or hallucinations is broadly referred to as psychosis. When discussing psychiatric illness in general terms, “psychopathology” is considered a preferred descriptor.”

By this definition the leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un seems quite insane. My close friend was stationed near North Korea for the military for many years. He often told me of the instability and volatility of this region long before it became widely noted in the media. I pray that the rest of the world will remain unified against a leader who is by my definition insane. Insane does not mean powerless, and he seems willing to consider the use of violence against the world. Today I pray for peace. Amen
