Hollywood Dream(s) or Hollywood Dreamz and Collaboration. I’m going to try something a little different today. Sometimes I try to inspire with my words or the words of others. Other times I tell you what I’m doing at a film festival or on a project. Today I’m going to do a shout out to those wiser than me (that’s pretty easy), but also acknowledge that being part of a team in cinema art is always best. Our film short film LOVERS has been accepted at the Hollywood Dreamz Film Festival in Las Vegas. It will be a wild show as part of the Action on Film Festival August 16th through August 25th 2018. As Del Weston the festival’s gracious host says “It’s Vegas Baby”. The LOVERS team is excited that we are a part. I was very excited that our nominations in various divergent categories fit in with the idea of our project’s team concept–think collaboration. From Cinematography to Make-up to Director to Best Interpretation of Love it seemed to all fit in with the concept of a team effort–which it absolutely was. Thanks to Del Weston and his team some of whom I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to.
I’ll end with a few quotes that set a groundwork for the importance of collaboration. I found the photo for this post by searching “collaboration”, I think it looks like two filmmakers working on a project. If you had any doubt take it from the two guys quoted below, I think they’ve got talent.

“When I was a kid, there was no collaboration; it’s you with a camera bossing your friends around. But as an adult, filmmaking is all about appreciating the talents of the people you surround yourself with and knowing you could never have made any of these films by yourself.” Steven Spielberg

“Every time I go to a movie, it’s magic, no matter what the movie’s about.” Steven Spielberg

“A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.” Stanley Kubrick

“Writing, of course, is writing, acting comes from the theater, and cinematography comes from photography. Editing is unique to film. You can see something from different points of view almost simultaneously, and it creates a new experience.” Stanley Kubrick
