G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time). Usually we hear this acronym for athletics. I’m going to just give my straight opinions today using G.O.A.T. as the guidepost. I know you’ll often disagree so feel free to give feedback. Set out below are my G.O.A.T.s for sports and on:

Baseball: I’ll go with Babe Ruth acknowledging the lack of integration
Football: I’ll choose Tom Brady acknowledging that quarterbacks can’t do so without their teammates
Basketball: LeBron James not even close sorry Michael
Hockey: Wayne Gretzky
Golf: Jack Nicklaus
Racehorse: Secretariat (don’t even bother arguing)
Jockey: Bill Shoemaker (don’t bother again)
President of the U.S.A.: Abraham Lincoln
Musician (Singer): I’ll go with Elton John
Music (Band): The Beatles
Actor: I’ll pick Denzel Washington
Actress: Tough I’ll chicken out and pick Meryl Streep with Bette Davis a close second
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Playwright: Duh William Shakespeare
Screenwriter: Stanley Kubrick
Novelist: I’m biased Stephen King
Poet: Edgar Allan Poe (I bet you can tell I like Scary)

As I looked at what I wrote I found I only picked one woman, and what else can an actress be. I did consider Barbara Streisand for singer but went with Elton John. Hopefully the Me Too Movement and true representation of women will change my next list. As a gambler I’d wager that in 50 years after I’m long gone a list will include a lot more women; and yet somehow I think Babe Ruth will still be there. Which reminds me … I forgot to include the greatest female athlete ever (in my opinion) Babe Didrikson Zaharias. Let’s even up the playing field. I think I’ll bow out now and let everyone think up others you like better. Keep watching TV but don’t forget to pick up a book, go to a sporting event, or listen to some music. Peace
