Buddha, Muhammad, Jesus, and a couple others. I find spiritual peace, wisdom, and inspiration from many sources. If I get the exact meanings incorrect I think I am sometimes close to the spirit of the idea. Let us start with religious tolerance, and move on to love and then to benevolence.

The Koran states words to the effect “To you be your religion, to me be mine.”

From the Old Testament (Hebrew Scripture) in Micah 4:3-5 “…they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.”

Jesus spoke often about mercy and love. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matthew 5:43)

The Buddha said: “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”

Here we have just examined four bits of wisdom from the large spiritual/religious groups: Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and Buddhism. I am hearing some very good messages. Not the messages of intolerance, violence, and hatred I hear and view on television and social media.

And finally, and least importantly a message from me: “PEACE”.
