Best editing award for LOVERS. At the Worldwide Women’s Festival in Arizona LOVERS received the award for BEST EDITING. The award was a cool stylized cactus seemingly made of bronze celluloid reel film. The best part of the award is that it recognizes our fantastic editor ROSIE NAKAMURA. Rosie is from New York and I’ll be sending it off to her; I doubt she sees many saguaro cacti in New York. But she’s got one now!

The festival was fun, and it was great to see so many deserving awards go to women. Some of Carla and my friends were able to be there to see LOVERS on the big screen at Harkins Theater on Shea. I was very happy they were with us. Before I highlight Rosie, I want to give a big shout out to Carla Rexrode, the Executive Producer who is the glue that holds all the talented team together. As I said last week, talented women define this LOVERS project at every level.

Editing is a behind the scenes process that determines the success or failure of every film. Not even a great editor can fix a bad film. Yet, no great film is possible without a great editor. It was demonstrated to me just how phenomenal Rosie was as I saw each changing rough cut of the film. Other team members had a little input or idea along the way, but Rosie always found a way to make it work and make it better. Talent is a word that can be over used, but this time it is not. The editing talent and skill of Rosie Nakamura made this film into a finished product that can justifiably win a best editing award. Thank you Rosie and congratulations.

To everyone reading I’ll keep you posted as we hopefully move on to other film festivals. Hopefully one near you. Peace.
